KSCA assures full cooperation with stampede probe

Bengaluru, June 7 (UNI) Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) President Raghuram Bhat on Saturday assured full cooperation with the ongoing inquiry into the RCB stampede tragedy, declaring that the KSCA "will never shy away" from investigation and is committed to transparency before the state government and Karnataka High Court.
Addressing reporters after an emergency Managing Committee meeting convened earlier in the day by KSCA, Bhat said, "We have already told the government and the Hon’ble High Court that we are here to support the investigation. We will never shy away from anything. Whatever is there, we are ready to cooperate."
The meeting was convened to place and accept the resignations of KSCA Secretary Shankar and Treasurer Jairam, who stepped down on what Bhat described as "moral grounds."
"They felt their continuation may be misinterpreted, so they have resigned. The Managing Committee accepted their resignations after appreciating their two-and-a-half years of service," he said.
While Bhat did not elaborate on the circumstances surrounding the resignations, citing sub judice constraints, he confirmed that the committee had taken the necessary step of formally accepting them in view of the issue already entering the public domain.
"Today’s meeting was only to accept the resignations. Any further decisions required to run the association will be taken shortly," he said.
Responding to queries about the government's one-man commission appointed to probe RCB stampede tragedy, Bhat said no formal communication had been received yet. "So far, nothing has come to us. When it comes, we are prepared. The administration is going on, and there is nothing to worry," he added, assuring members and stakeholders that cricket operations remain unaffected.
The developments come amid rising scrutiny of the KSCA's internal functioning, with legal and administrative processes now underway.
