Lilly Singh calls meeting Shreya Ghoshal a ‘magical moment’, says her voice is ‘unmatched’

Washington, Oct 1 (UNI) A Bollywood-filled childhood came full circle for actor-comedian and YouTuber Lilly Singh when she met playback singer Shreya Ghoshal backstage at her ‘The Unstoppable’ concert in Los Angeles on Wednesday, turning a starstruck fan moment into a deeply personal and nostalgic evening.
Lilly Singh may have built a global career spanning YouTube, comedy, television and entertainment, but her bond with Indian cinema and music remains deeply rooted. Having grown up watching Hindi films and listening to Bollywood music, Lilly has often embraced Indian culture and references in her work, making her heartfelt interaction with Shreya Ghoshal all the more meaningful.
Sharing a glimpse of the moment, Lilly posted a series of pictures and videos from her backstage meeting with Shreya. Reflecting on the encounter, she described it as a deeply personal moment for her younger self, who grew up watching Hindi films and listening to Bollywood music.
Lilly uploaded a video capturing her heartfelt embrace with Shreya, along with a picture of the two posing together backstage. She also gave fans a glimpse of the concert, where the audience could be seen singing along enthusiastically to Shreya’s popular track ‘Om Shanti Om’.
In her post on Instagram, the actor-comedian spoke about her love for Hindi cinema and said that meeting Shreya was a memorable moment for her.
She wrote, “A magical moment with @shreyaghoshal. Swipe to the last to see my actual reaction. Moments like this make little Lilly so proud. Hindi cinema was such a fundamental part of my upbringing (why I always CRUSH in the family Antakshari), and I will truly die on the hill that voices like Shreya’s are simply UNMATCHED."
Meanwhile, Lilly also praised Shreya’s performance, revealing that the singer performed for three hours and left her completely spellbound with her powerful and effortless vocals. She also marvelled at the energy of the audience, who joined in to sing along with Shreya throughout the concert.
“This woman sang for THREE HOURS and somehow sounded like an actual angel the entire time. Pitch perfect. Effortless. The type of voice where you’re sitting there thinking…….how is that sound coming out of a human being?!, she wrote.
She further wrote, “And a stadium full of people singing Om Shanti Om together healed something in me I didn’t even know needed healing.”
Lilly’s evening became even more special when Shreya expressed her excitement about the YouTuber’s upcoming YouTube relaunch. Reflecting on the moment, Lilly said the singer’s words served as a heartfelt reminder of why she continues to pursue her dreams. She wrote, “To top it off, my heart exploded when Shreya said she’s so excited for my YouTube relaunch.”
“This is why we hustle, y’all. This is why we chase our dreams. For magical little moments where the younger versions of ourselves get to live their absolute best lives. I’m so grateful, “she concluded her post.
Therefore, Lilly also penned down a special thank you to Shreya for her love and warmth at the concert, and she mentioned a special shoutout to BToS Productions CEO and Creative Director Nazeef Mohammed, who was also a part of the evening.
“Thank you Shreya Ji for the love, the hospitality, the shoutout, and for giving little Lilly a moment she’ll never forget. And a very special shout out to the incredible @nazeef_btos. What a sweetheart he is!
Lastly, reacting to the actor-comedian Instagram post, Shreya Ghoshal wrote a heartfelt reply, “Mad fun! Lilly you are the best!! Thank you for coming and adding your magic to the evening. I can’t wait for the return of your Superwoman skits.”
