Liverpool secure Premier League title as Man City books FA Cup final slot

London, Apr 28 (UNI) Liverpool was confirmed as the winner of the 2024-25 Premier League title following a comfortable 5-1 win at home to Tottenham Hotspur.
Luis Diaz, Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo turned the score around in the first half after former Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke had put Tottenham ahead in the 12th minute on Sunday.
Mohamed Salah scored Liverpool's fourth goal 20 minutes into the second half to start the celebrations in Anfield, with an own goal making it 5-1.
The club's 24th league title follows the one it won under Jurgen Klopp in the 2019-20 campaign
and comes in Arne Slot's first season since replacing the popular German last summer.
The win leaves Liverpool with 82 points from 34 matches -- 15 more than second-place Arsenal, allowing them to start celebrations with four games still to play this season.
The club's season has been led by striker Mohamed Salah, with 28 goals, who recently extended his stay at Anfield for another two years.
The Egyptian has netted almost a third of their total of 78 while they have also been rock solid in defense, conceding just 32 goals.
In the other Premier League matches played on Sunday, Bournemouth drew 1-1 with Manchester United, with Antoine Semenyo putting the home side ahead in the first half and Rasmus Hojlund leveling in the 96th minute after Bournemouth had been harshly reduced to 10 men after Evanilson's 70th minute red card after he appeared to slip while making a challenge.
Manchester City beat Nottingham Forest in their FA Cup semifinal to book a place in the final against Crystal Palace, who defeated Aston Villa 3-0 on Saturday.
Rico Lewis put City ahead after just two minutes after slotting the ball home from the edge of the "D," and Josko Gvardiol headed in a second goal from Omar Marmoush's cross early in the second half.
Forest was unlucky to hit the woodwork a couple of times, but failed to have a shot on target in the game.
