Maha: 18 die, 65 injured in rain-related incidents since June 1

Mumbai, June 16 (UNI) At least 18 people have died and 65 suffered injuries due to rain-related incidents in Maharashtra since June one, according to a report issued by the State Disaster Management Authority here on Monday.
The deaths were reported in various incidents triggered by heavy rains, including road accidents, fall from bridges, drowning, lightning strikes and fire, while six cattle were also killed, it said.
Various places, such as Mumbai City, Mumbai Suburbs, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Raigad districts recorded very heavy rainfall in last 24 hours, sources in the disaster management authority said.
Mumbai and other nearby cities are facing massive waterlogging in low-lying areas along with traffic jams and disruption of suburban train as well as metro rail services as heavy rains have been pounding Maharashtra for past 24 hours.

Mumbai, June 16 (UNI) The Bombay high court on Monday heavily came down on the official of the Maharashtra government while orally observing that officials must be 'ashamed' of themselves for not being able to point out even after 11 years that whether they have taken any action against the officials of the Children's Aide Society (CAS) and the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) over a 'shocking' New Year's Party in December 2012, wherein 20 mentally disabled girls were made to dance along with 'scantily-clad' dancers in a home meant for children with mental deficiency.
