Pune, Apr 27 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the 'Pune Urban Dialogue -- Challenges and Solutions' programme organised at Yashda here on Sunday.
Addressing the programme organised jointly by Yashda, Barve Charitable Trust, International Centre and Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) here, he said, "Today, 50 percent of the population of Maharashtra lives in 500 cities and the remaining population lives in 40,000 villages. If we can change the face of cities, we can give a better life to 50 percent of the population."
For this, a brainstorming like 'Pune Urban Dialogue' is necessary, he emphasised and said the idea is to first create a road network and use urban planning plans by cancelling entire development plan of the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority.
"Today, while we are building a new city or colony of the future Pune through PMRDA, big roads are necessary," Fadnavis added.
