Maha: Father shoots daughter injures son in law on love marriage

Mumbai, Apr 27 (UNI) A retired sub inspector of police from Central Reserve Police (CRP) shot at his daughter and son-in-law for their love marriage in Chopra in Jalgaon district of Maharashtra police said here on Sunday.

The incident took place at 10 pm on Saturday in Chopda,during a family function according to the police.

The daughter died on the spot, while the son-in-law was seriously injured and is currently undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital.

The accused father, who opened fire during the function, is in serious condition after being beaten up by attendees.

According to information received, Kiran Mangle, a retired PSI shot his daughter Trupti and her husband Avinash Wagh during the Haldi function of one of his relative which was attended by his daughter son in law and other relatives.

Trupti Avinash Wagh, 24, and Avinash Ishwar Wagh, 28, from Kothrud, Pune, had a love marriage two years ago. The girl's father, Karan Arjan Mangle, 48, from Shirpur, did not approve of the marriage and was angry about it.

Police registered an offence and investigation is going on.
