Mumbai, June 29 (UNI) Investigators probing into the sudden death of 42-year-old actress Shefali Jariwala are focusing on her medication regimen after she suffered a fatal drop in blood pressure on Friday night, police said today.
Jariwala, renowned for the iconic "Kaanta Laga" music video, passed away at her Oshiwara residence despite being rushed to Bellevue Multispecialty Hospital by her husband Parag Tyagi and three others.
Eyewitnesses reported Tyagi arriving home at around 10:30 PM, after which Jariwala was urgently transported to the hospital. Doctors declared her dead upon arrival.
Mumbai Police, after being notified at around 1 AM, transferred her body to Cooper Hospital for autopsy.
Police sources revealed Jariwala had taken her regular nightly pills after a day of fasting due to a household prayer ceremony. Earlier that afternoon, she received an anti-aging injection—a treatment administered under medical supervision for several years. Shortly after consuming the pills, her blood pressure plummeted dramatically, causing severe shivering and prompting the emergency hospital dash.
Authorities recovered samples of her medications and the injection during a forensic examination of her residence.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 9) Dixit Gedam stated: "Prima facie, no foul play is evident. Doctors have reserved opinion on the exact cause pending scientific analysis," noting the potential compounding effect of taking medication on an empty stomach.
Police have registered an accidental death report and recorded statements from eight individuals including Tyagi, domestic staff, and building security.
Jariwala, celebrated as the 'Kaanta Laga Girl' and a former "Bigg Boss 13" contestant, was cremated on Saturday at Oshiwara crematorium.
