Maha: Minister Kokate stirs another controversy

Sambhajinagar, May 31 (UNI) Maharashtra Agriculture Minister Manikrao Kokate on Saturday made another controversial statement saying that Agriculture Minister's post is just a 'Patilki' of a desolate village and party president Ajit Pawar has given him this portfolio.
He made this statement at both the Progressive Farmers' symposium and the felicitation of meritorious children of farmers organised by the Agriculture Department here.
He said that Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar has given him the agriculture portfolio deliberately and he has been paying special attention to this portfolio.
He further said that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy CM Pawar are working hard for the welfare of farmers and are also ready to provide funds from time to time, he added.
Earlier, while inspecting the crops damaged by unseasonal rain in Sinnar in Nashik recently, Kokate had made a controversial statement saying, "Why do we have to do a panchnama while inspecting the damage caused by unseasonal rain?"
It came under fire from all sections of society.
