Major fire erupts at Axis Bank’s main branch in Aurangabad

Aurangabad, June 3 (UNI) A massive fire broke out at Axis Bank’s main branch located on the busy MG Road in Aurangabad on Tuesday evening, causing extensive damage to property.
The blaze, which started around 6 pm, took the fire brigade nearly an hour and a half to bring under control.
According to Branch Manager Shashikant, the fire originated due to a short circuit in an air conditioning unit.
“The fire spread rapidly, giving our staff little time to react. Soon, it engulfed the bank’s wiring, computers, and other electronic equipment,” he said.
Fortunately, there was no damage to cash reserves or customer lockers. The bank management promptly alerted the fire department, and multiple fire engines were dispatched to the site. Firefighters worked swiftly to contain the flames and prevent the blaze from spreading further.
Preliminary assessments indicate that the fire caused severe damage to electrical systems, computer hardware, furniture, benches, desks, and interior décor. While an exact estimate is still pending, initial reports suggest losses in the range of Rs 50–60 lakh.
Police and fire department officials were investigating the incident to ascertain the precise cause.
