Majority of district secretaries boycotts meeting convened by PMK Founder Ramadoss

Chennai, May 16 (UNI) The cold war in the first family of Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK),
a Vainnyar dominated outfit, seems to have had its impact as a majority of the party's
district secretaries and leaders boycotted a crucial meeting convened by Party Founder
Dr. S. Ramadoss, on Friday.
The meeting was held at Dr Ramadoss' Thailapuram Estate near Tindivanam and was
convened intended to discuss key organizational matters and leadership appointments
ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
Despite invitations extended to about 100 district secretaries, only leaders from a few
districts, including Krishnagiri, Coimbatore, and Tiruppur, attended the meeting.
Notably, Dr Anbumani Ramadoss, who is a Rajya Sabha member, and several key
district leaders were conspicuous by their absence.
This widespread boycott reflects deep divisions and that all is not well within the party.
Reacting to this, Dr Ramadoss told reporters invitation was sent to all district secretaries
and functionaries.
Dr Anbumani was also invited for the meeting. "Hope he is on the way", he added.
On a majority of district secretaries skipping the meeting, he said perhaps they would
be too tired after the Party's annual chithra pournami conference at Thiruvidanthai near
Mahabalipuram, a couple of days back.
Recently , the party founder removed is son and former Union Minister Dr Anbumani
from the post of Party president and made him Working President reportedly to enable
him to focus on poll-related works.
Earier, Dr. Ramadoss announced the appointment of his grandson, Parashuraman
Mukundan, as the new state youth wing leader, triggering opposition from Anbumani
and leading to a public altercation between the father and son.
This incident has intensified the ongoing power struggle between the two, which has
been unfolding since April 2025, when Dr. Ramadoss reclaimed the party presidency,
sidelining Anbumani .
In his address, Dr. Ramadoss emphasized that party officials who fail to work diligently
and honestly would face removal from their positions, regardless of their rank.
He also asserted his authority over the party, stating that decisions would be made solely
by him as long as he remains in leadership .
