MDR is money-grubbing scheme of the centre: Akhilesh Yadav

Lucknow, Sep 17 (UNI) Terming the BJP government imposing MDR on UPI transactions as a money-grubbing scheme, Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav said that his party will oppose any move to realise any money from the public or small merchants."These schemes have been devised to fill the pockets of industrialists like the other schemes of the Central government," he said while commenting that it is like an old system of "Chungi"(octroi).
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Mr Yadav said that the government, in an effort for a trillion-dollar economy, was harassing the public under the name of such money-minting schemes.
Regarding the condition of expressways built under the BJP government, SP President Akhilesh Yadav said that under the BJP government, construction work on a project is often completed later, but it collapses earlier.
He noted that the Bundelkhand Expressway was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and its maintenance is still ongoing.
He also showed a video of the collapse of the Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway- Ganga Expressway built during the BJP government, and said it seemed there was a competition between Delhi and Lucknow as to who would make more profits.
He said that the quality of the riverfront and other construction projects built during the Samajwadi Party government was the best.
The Agra-Lucknow Expressway had the best design, and the BJP is now ruining it. The fountains on the riverfront are functioning efficiently along with the laptops given to children by the SP government.
SP president also questioned that the UP government claims to have planted 200 crore trees in the state.
During the Samajwadi Party government, we planted 134,000 trees on 1,000 acres of area. If the government claims to have planted 200 crore trees, then they should disclose the land where those 200 crore trees were planted.
On the occasion of Vishwakarma Puja, Mr Yadav announced that if the SP government comes to power, then there will be a public holiday on this day, while a big " Vishwakarma temple ' will be constructed on the Gomti River Front in Lucknow.
Meanwhile, former UP minister Ram Ashray Kushwaha left the BJP and joined the Samajwadi Party.
On this occasion, Vishwakarma said, "I still feel Netaji (Mulayam Singh Yadav) among me, who gave me all respect."
He joined the Samajwadi Party and said that he would not sit at home until Akhilesh Yadav was made the Chief Minister. UNI MBD SAS

Mehbooba slams BJP over IPS officer Bushra Bano transfer, says ‘even our vocabulary and votes are being policed’

Srinagar, Sept 17 (UNI) Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday criticised the BJP over the transfer of West Bengal IPS officer Bushra Bano, alleging that the party was now “policing the vocabulary of Muslims.”
Mehbooba said the move, which came after the IPS officer used expressions including “Assalamu Alaikum”, “InshaAllah” and “JazakAllah” in a video, did not surprise the Muslim community anymore.
