Shillong, Oct 26 (UNI) Meghalaya's electorate shrunk to 21.83 lakh, with 6,724 names deleted from the electoral rolls when the draft rolls were published on Monday as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)
Announcing the figures at the end of the enumeration phase, Meghalaya Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Dr. B.D.R.Tiwari said that the state has a total of 21,83,963 electors, reflecting a net increase of 14,720 electors, about 0.68 per cent over the draft roll published on August 5, 2026.
Of the 21,83,963 electors, Tiwari said 10,59,743 are male, 11,24,216 are female and four are third-gender voters. He added that the final roll has a gender ratio of 1,061 and an EP ratio of 606.
Tiwari said that out of the 1,80,402 voters deleted from the electoral roll, 45,011 were absent, 42,532 had shifted, 81,490 were deceased, 6,701 were duplicates (ASDD -Absent, Shifted, Dead, and Duplicate), and 4,668 fell under other categories.
Prior to the launch of SIR 2026, Tiwari said Meghalaya's total electorate stood at 23,49,645, which included 11,90,898 female voters and seven third-gender voters.
At the time the electoral roll was frozen to print house-to-house enumeration forms, the state recorded a gender ratio of 1,028 and an EP ratio of 651, the CEO added.
Tiwari said a total of 23,49,645 enumeration forms were distributed to electors during the enumeration phase from June 30, 2026 to July 29, 2026, of which 21,69,243 forms were received back.
Meanwhile, the CEO advised all electors to verify their names and particulars in the final electoral rolls through the Voters' Services Portal: https://voters.eci.gov.in, and CEO Meghalaya website: https://ceomeghalaya.nic.in. Digital copies of the final roll can also be downloaded from this website.
"Any eligible citizen whose name has not been included in the final electoral roll may apply for inclusion through Form 6, along with the prescribed declaration and supporting documents, wherever applicable. Similarly, applications for deletion and correction or shifting of electoral particulars may be submitted through Form 7 and Form 8, respectively," Tiwari said.
As per guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India, a special drive will be undertaken across Meghalaya following the publication of the final electoral rolls.
Tiwari said special enrolment camps will be organised in all 12 districts to facilitate the enrolment of eligible citizens, particularly, electors whose names were included in the pre-SIR electoral roll but are not reflected in the final electoral roll.
Eligible citizens who have not yet enrolled, first-time and young electors who have attained the qualifying age, senior citizens, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable electors requiring assistance can also avail assistance from the special enrolment camps, the CEO said.
