Mission Bhagiratha launches four digit toll-free number for rural drinking water complaints

Hyderabad, June 18 (UNI) In a significant move to improve access to grievance redressal mechanisms, the Telangana government has introduced a new four-digit toll-free number – 1916 – for lodging complaints related to rural drinking water issues under Mission Bhagiratha.

Previously, citizens had to use an 11-digit toll-free number (1800-599-4007) to register complaints, which posed difficulties, especially for residents in rural areas.

Acting on the directions of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Seethakka, the department has now replaced the 11-digit number with a shorter and more user-friendly number.

The new number, 1916, is expected to make it easier for people to quickly report issues related to drinking water supply across the state. Mission Bhagiratha staff have been actively addressing complaints received via the toll-free system, ensuring timely resolutions, an official statement said on Wednesday.
