Mock drill to be conducted in Manipur

Imphal, May 6 (UNI) A State-level Mock Drill as part of Operation Abhyaas will be conducted on May 7 at 4.00 pm in Manipur to simulate air raid and its eventualities by different teams from various stakeholders.
It will see the participation of Police, Civil Defence, Fire Department, State Disaster Response Force, National Disaster Response Force, Health Dept., Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited, Educational Institutions, State Museum and Directorate of Information and Public Relations.
The staging area of the mock drill will be at Johnstone Hr. Secondary School, State Museum, BT Park, Polo Ground (Mahal Kangjeibung) and Directorate of Fire Service M Rajkumar Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Imphal West said in a press statement issued on Tuesday.

In the Mock drill, there will be air raid warning sirens, announced through police public address systems, activation of fire engine sirens, announcements via police patrol chides, blackout measures, search and rescue operations, casualty evacuation from the damaged buildings, temporary Hospital setup, evacuation of civilians from endangered areas to bunkers etc. and training of civilians on civil defence aspects to protect themselves in the event of a "hostile attack".
This exercise aims to assess and enhance the readiness of Civil Defence mechanisms in the event of air raid.
