Mumbai Cyber Cell recovers Rs 1.83 Cr in WhatsApp impersonation fraud

Mumbai, Aug 8 (UNI) Mumbai Police's Cyber Cell has recovered Rs 1.83 crore, nearly 92 per cent of the amount lost by a private company's senior executive in a WhatsApp impersonation fraud, officials said.
The fraud was reported on August 6 when the General Manager (Accounts) of a private firm received messages from a WhatsApp account carrying the name and photograph of the company's director.
The fraudster claimed to be using a new mobile number and asked the executive to urgently transfer Rs 1.98 crore for company-related work. Believing the message to be genuine, the executive transferred the amount.

Six Bangladeshi Nationals Detained in Khar; Fake ID Racket Busted

Mumbai, Oct 2 (UNI) Police have detained six persons suspected to be Bangladeshi nationals illegally staying in India and busted an alleged racket involved in preparing fake Indian identity documents.
According to police, the alleged prime accused, identified as Iqbal Akbarali Shaikh alias Gautam Sunil Dutta (35), facilitated the entry of persons from Bangladesh into India and allegedly arranged identity documents, railway travel, accommodation and employment for them.
