Mumbai, May 31 (UNI) Maharashtra recorded 84 new Covid-19 cases on Friday, bringing the total number of cases registered since the start of the year to 681, The number of active cases in the state now stands at 467, with Mumbai, Pune, and Nashik reporting the highest numbers, said state public health department on Saturday.
Of the new cases, Mumbai reported 32, Pune Municipal Corporation 19, and Nashik city one.
Additional cases were detected in Thane district (2), Thane Municipal Corporation limits (14), Navi Mumbai (1), Kalyan-Dombivli (1), Raigad district (2), Panvel (1), Pune district (1), Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (3), Satara (2), Kolhapur district (1), Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (1), and Sangli Municipal Corporation (3).
Health officials emphasized that most patients are experiencing only mild symptoms and urged the public not to panic. Since January 2025, Mumbai alone has recorded 411 cases. The state has conducted 10,324 Covid-19 tests so far this year, of which 681 have returned positive.
Nationally, India’s active Covid-19 caseload stands at 2,710 as of May 30, 2025. Kerala leads with 1,147 active cases, followed by Maharashtra (467), Delhi (294), and Gujarat (223). The Health Ministry has noted a flu-like variant with minimal spread and continues to advise standard precautions.
