Paris, May 30 (UNI) Rising Brazilian tennis sensation Joao Fonseca has revealed that he draws inspiration from the positive body language of tennis icons Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Roger Federer.
The 18-year-old, who faces Britain's Jack Draper in the third round of the French Open, emphasised the importance of maintaining a positive demeanor on court.
Fonseca shared, "My coach talks to me a lot about body language. We see a lot of Rafa Nadal and Djokovic and Federer. Those guys, the body language they have is just incredible."
He added, "We need to follow their steps. You need to stay positive. There’s gonna be bad moments. There’s gonna be good moments. You need to stay positive all the time. It’s one thing I practice a lot. Also in practices when the practice is difficult or I’m playing bad, I just try to stay positive and focus on what I need to do."
Fonseca's approach has garnered praise from fellow professionals. Djokovic lauded the young Brazilian's composure and power, calling him the current "talk of the tour."
Meanwhile, Draper, who defeated Fonseca at Indian Wells earlier this year, acknowledged his potential, stating, "Obviously there's a lot of talk about Joao and I saw why today. The kid is unbelievable. He's got incredible power. I think it's great to have another young player emerging as a superstar."
As Fonseca continues to rise through the ranks, his focus on mental fortitude and emulating the best in the game positions him as a formidable contender in the tennis world.
