N.A.N. Enaex to invest Rs 750 crore in explosives manufacturing facility in India

New Delhi, Oct 27 (UNI) N.A.N. Enaex, a 50:50 joint venture between India's N.A.N. GreenMet and Chile-based blasting solutions company Enaex S.A., plans to invest Rs 750 crore to establish an integrated explosives manufacturing facility in India, with commercial operations expected to begin in 2027.
The company aims to tap India's growing mining and infrastructure sectors, targeting revenue of around USD 300 million from the Indian market, which it expects to contribute about 10 per cent of its global sales.
The joint venture will offer emulsion explosives, electronic detonator systems, digital blasting solutions and artificial intelligence-enabled tools, along with services to optimise mining operations and improve productivity, safety and cost efficiency.
The company's first manufacturing facility will be located in eastern India, with an initial annual capacity of 1.5 lakh tonnes of emulsion explosives and one million electronic detonators, according to a company statement.
India's explosives market is projected to grow to USD 1.7 billion by 2030 and USD 2.7 billion by 2035, driven by rising mineral production and infrastructure development, the company said.
Demand is expected to receive a boost from investments in mining, steel production, tunnelling, hydropower, railways, highways, and metro projects.
Annanya Agarwal, co-founder and director of N.A.N. GreenMet, said India's infrastructure expansion and growing mining sector required advanced technology, higher safety standards and more efficient operations.
"Our early conversations with customers have made it clear that the market is ready for this change," she said, adding that the investment was aimed at building a substantial domestic manufacturing and technology business to serve large mining and infrastructure projects.
Enaex Chief Executive Officer Juan Andrés Errázuriz Domínguez said India's infrastructure projects required greater precision and control in blasting operations.
"The real gains come from getting the blast right the first time, with greater precision, better fragmentation and tighter control," he said.
He said technology could improve productivity, reduce costs and strengthen safety standards, adding that Enaex intended to bring its experience in international mining markets to India's mining and infrastructure projects.
The joint venture plans to introduce Enaex's electronic initiation systems, digital blast-design and monitoring tools, and mine-to-mill optimisation services. These technologies are designed to improve rock fragmentation, reduce downstream processing costs, and help control vibrations and other environmental impacts.
The company said its discussions with Indian mining companies had indicated growing interest in technology-led blasting solutions, with customers seeking higher productivity, lower operating costs and improved safety, particularly at sites near residential areas.
Enaex, which is part of Chile's Sigdo Koppers Group, has more than a century of experience in blasting solutions and operates across mining markets in the Americas, Europe, Africa and Oceania. The company exports products to more than 40 countries.
N.A.N. GreenMet, founded by Navin Agarwal, operates across sectors including lithium-ion battery recycling, critical-mineral recovery, rare-earth permanent magnets and precision blasting.
