CM Revanth Reddy invites Hyundai to set up car manufacturing facility in Telangana

Hyderabad, Oct. 16 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday invited Hyundai Motors to establish a car manufacturing facility in the state and directed officials to expedite pending approvals for the company’s proposed Rs 8,528-crore Global Innovation R&D Centre at Zaheerabad.
A delegation of Hyundai Motor India Engineering (HMIE), led by its Managing Director Changyeon Cho, met the Chief Minister at the Bodhi Pavilion and discussed the progress of the proposed integrated research and development facility in the National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) at Zaheerabad, an official release said here.
The delegation informed the Chief Minister that the project was expected to be ready for groundbreaking in the next few months.
Revanth Reddy assured the company of all necessary support for the project and instructed officials to expedite pending clearances.
The facility is proposed to be developed across 678 acres, with an investment of Rs 8,528 crore and an employment commitment of 4,276 jobs.
The Chief Minister said Telangana was well-positioned to attract automobile manufacturing investments, citing its central location, transport connectivity and industrial infrastructure.
He highlighted Hyderabad’s cosmopolitan character and quality of life, and said the government was committed to supporting companies seeking to expand their manufacturing operations in the state.
He also highlighted plans to develop dedicated mobility clusters and promote industrial expansion through spatial development frameworks such as the Peri-Urban Region (PURE).
The proposed Zaheerabad facility is expected to strengthen Hyundai’s research, engineering, testing and validation capabilities.
The company has maintained a presence in Hyderabad for around two decades, with its Hitec City facility serving as a major research and development centre for advanced vehicle engineering.
The project follows investment discussions held during the World Economic Forum in 2024, when a delegation led by the Chief Minister met Hyundai representatives to explore investment opportunities in Telangana.
In June 2025, the state Cabinet sub-committee on industrial and investment promotion approved Hyundai’s proposal to establish the R&D centre.
Revanth Reddy also outlined the state’s plans for Bharat Future City and invited the Hyundai leadership to participate in the Invest Telangana Global Summit 2026.
Changyeon Cho said Hyundai’s plans to strengthen Hyderabad as a global hub for technology and advanced engineering aligned with the Telangana Rising 2047 vision.
The company would continue to contribute to the state’s growth, he added.
K. Ramakrishna Rao, Advisor and Ex-officio Special Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister, Sangareddy Collector Prateek Jain and other senior officials attended the meeting.
