UBL supports Rs 7,700 Cr in economic value, 41,300 jobs in Telangana: Study

Hyderabad, Oct 7 (UNI) United Breweries Ltd (UBL) supported Rs 7,700 crore in value added and 41,300 jobs across its value chain in Telangana in FY2024-25, according to a socio-economic impact assessment (SEIA) study report commissioned by the company.
The study said the estimated value addition was equivalent to 0.5 per cent of Telangana's state GDP, while the employment supported represented 0.2 per cent of total employment in the State.
UBL sold more than 37 million cases of beverages in Telangana during FY2024-25 and procured goods and services worth Rs 1,200 crore from suppliers in the State.
Of the total employment impact, 1,341 jobs were direct, while around 5,000 jobs were supported upstream through suppliers and 34,900 downstream through distribution, retail and on-premise sales.
The report estimated UBL's upstream value addition at Rs 800 crore and downstream value addition at Rs 6,240 crore, while the company directly generated Rs 670 crore in value added in Telangana, including excise duties, VAT and other levies.
Tax payments supported across UBL's value chain were estimated at Rs 5,850 crore, accounting for the largest share of the total value added. The report said these tax impacts represented around 4.2 per cent of the State's total tax revenues.
The study found that for every direct job at UBL, around 30 additional employment opportunities were supported elsewhere in Telangana's economy, including four upstream and 26 downstream jobs.
The trade and HORECA sector accounted for the largest employment impact, with around 18,800 jobs, followed by agriculture with 13,500, business services with 3,800 and manufacturing with 2,100 jobs.
The assessment, based on input-output modelling, covered UBL's direct and indirect economic impact in Telangana during FY2024-25.
It noted that the estimates represent economic activity supported by UBL and do not measure the broader activity of suppliers, distributors or partner outlets independently of the company.
