Kelachandra Coffee to present Indian brews at World of Coffee Jakarta

Bengaluru, May 13 (UNI) Kelachandra Coffee, India’s largest privately-held coffee plantation company, will represent the country at the prestigious World of Coffee 2025 event being held from May 15 to 17 at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC), Indonesia.

This marks the first time the event is being hosted in a coffee-producing Asian nation.

The Bengaluru-headquartered company, known for its Rainforest Alliance-certified, shade-grown coffees from the biodiversity-rich Western Ghats, will present its unique offerings across cupping sessions, sustainability panels, and a dedicated booth at the global exhibition. With India’s coffee exports surging to USD 1.54 billion, a 40 per cent jump over the previous year, Kelachandra aims to position Indian coffee as a serious contender in the global specialty segment.

"India has entered an exciting new era in coffee, moving beyond commodity production to become a serious contender in the specialty segment," said Neleema Rana George, Head of Coffee Works and Technology at Kelachandra Coffee. "At World of Coffee 2025 Jakarta, we’re proud to showcase the richness, diversity, and innovation of our shade-grown, ethically cultivated beans."

Kelachandra cultivates coffee across 15 estates spanning over 6,300 acres, employing time-honoured farming traditions alongside modern agro-techniques.

The company champions sustainability through agroforestry, intercropping, soil and water management, and the preservation of native tree cover, thereby contributing to carbon sequestration, biodiversity, and improved soil health.

"Sustainability isn’t just about responsible farming, it’s about cultivating ecosystems that can thrive for generations," said Rishina Kuruvilla, Head of CSR and Sustainability.

She emphasised the company’s adherence to EDUR (Ethical & Directly Uplifting Relationships) principles and alignment with the European Union’s Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), adding that Kelachandra’s estates serve as models for climate-resilient agriculture and gender inclusion, with women comprising 55 per cent of the workforce.

Ryana Kuruvilla, who leads the People and Culture division, said the global coffee community would get a taste of how biodiversity and traditional farming coalesce at Kelachandra estates.

“As we head to Jakarta, we’re excited to showcase how biodiversity and timeless farming traditions come together in our estates to create something truly exceptional,” she said.

World of Coffee 2025 Jakarta will feature over 300 exhibitors and thousands of participants from across the globe. Visitors can sample Kelachandra’s finest coffees at Booth AS101.

An exclusive cupping session hosted by Nichel Saputra, Barista and Founder of Nick Coffee, will be held on May 17 at 12:00 PM at Booth L217 – Coffee Beyond Borders. The Kelachandra leadership team has been invited to participate.
