Gopalan Aerospace targets USD 50 million revenue from Hoskote facility, signs five Czech MoUs

Bengaluru, Oct 14 (UNI) Gopalan Aerospace India Private Limited (GAIPL) is stepping up its aerospace and defence manufacturing ambitions with a new production line at its Hoskote facility near Bengaluru, backed by an investment of USD 40 million, and five agreements with Czech companies to explore collaboration in drones, advanced coatings and other technologies.
Czech Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Karel Havlíček inaugurated the production line on Wednesday in the presence of Gopalan Enterprises Director C. Prabhakar.
The company expects the Hoskote facility to generate around USD 50 million in annual revenue at planned capacity, against its current aerospace business revenue of approximately USD 20 million. It is targeting 50 per cent year-on-year growth over the next three to five years.
The five memoranda of understanding (MoUs) cover fire-extinguishing solutions, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), including fixed-wing drones and quadcopters, thermoreflective coating technology, unmanned traffic management systems and jet-powered UAVs.
The agreements open avenues for potential technology transfer, joint development and manufacturing partnerships. However, the specific commitments and commercial outcomes will depend on further discussions between the participating companies.
The latest expansion signals Gopalan Aerospace's push to move into higher-value manufacturing and strengthen its position in global aerospace and defence supply chains, at a time when India is seeking to expand domestic production and develop indigenous defence technologies.
The company's 10.5-acre Hoskote facility, developed with an investment of around USD 40 million, has more than 150,000 sq ft of manufacturing infrastructure. Its capabilities span precision CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, advanced composites, aerostructures and complex assemblies.
Prabhakar said India's aerospace and defence ambitions required the ability to engineer and deliver increasingly complex systems in line with global standards.
The company's aim was to evolve from a manufacturing supplier into a strategic capability partner for global aerospace and defence companies, he said.
GAIPL also disclosed that it had been working on indigenous loitering munition UAV systems over the past three years. It is exploring international partnerships in drone technologies, technology transfer, joint development and manufacturing.
Its customer and programme ecosystem includes Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Israel Aerospace Industries, Larsen & Toubro, the Defence Research and Development Organisation, Tata Advanced Systems, ISRO, the National Aerospace Laboratories and ECIL, among others. The company also has engagements involving the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force.
The facility holds AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 certifications, along with Nadcap accreditations for composites and welding.
The Czech partnerships could provide new avenues for specialised technologies and industrial cooperation, although the MoUs do not, by themselves, establish confirmed orders or investments.
For Gopalan Aerospace, the immediate focus is on expanding manufacturing capacity, securing more complex programmes and increasing exports as it seeks to scale up revenue and deepen its role in India's aerospace and defence manufacturing ecosystem. (UNI)
