Sensex up 309.40 pts

Mumbai, Apr 16 (UNI) Extending rally for the third straight session on Wednesday, the BSE Sensex rallied 309.40 pts to close high at 77,044.29 following gains in Telecommunications, Oil and Gas, Energy and Bank stocks despite weak global cues.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 108.65 pts at 23,437.20.

An oscillation was seen during the day, as BSE Sensex gained 262 pts to open at 76,996.78. During the day, it was edged up 376 pts at 77,110.23, days high. Later, it was slipped 191 pts at 76,543.77, days low. In late trade, it erased earlier losses and finished at , 77,044.29, advancing 309.40 pts from its previous close.

The Nifty registered days high at 23,452.20

and low at 23,273.05 pts.

Today, stocks like Oil and Gas, Telecommunications, Energy and Bankex kept the rally intact, as oil and gas went up by 1.78 pc, Bankex by 1.45 pc, Energy by 1.25 pc and Telecommunications by 1.08 pc.



The Mid cap gained 0.62 pc and Small cap by 0.91 pc.

The gainers were IndusInd Bank by 7.12 pc to Rs 788.25, Axis Bank by 4.26 pc to Rs 1161.55, Adani Ports by 1.81 pc to Rs 1232.75 and Asian paints by 1.75 pc to Rs 2459.35.

The losers were Maruti Suzuki by 1.51 pc to Rs 11673.70, Infosys by 1 pc to Rs 1413, Tata Motors by 0.92 pc to Rs 616.10 and L& T by 0.90 pc to Rs 3228.15.

US and European market were down, while a mixed trend was seen in Asian Market.

As Strait Times was up by 1.03 pc and Set Composite by 0.90 pc while Hang Seng fell by 1.94 pc, Taiwan Weighted slipped by 2 pc and Jakarta Composite by 0.65 pc .
