Mumbai, Apr 17 (UNI) The equity market maintained gaining streak intact for the fourth consecutive session on Thursday as the BSE Sensex spurted 1508.91 pts to close at 78,553.20 despite global economic concern.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 414.45 pts at 23,851.65.
High volatility was witnessed during the session, as the sensex opened on a weak note at 76,968.02, falling 76 pts. It was dropped further by 379 pts at 76,665.77, days low.
In late trade, it erased earlier losses, and zoomed 1572 pts at 78,616.77, day high, before closing at 78,553.20, up 1508.91 pts from its previous close.
The Nifty registered days high at 23,872.35
and low at 23,298.55 pts.
Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) inflows, weak Dollar, even stable crude oil prices kept the market robust.
Seeing stocks, Telecommunications, Financial services and Bankex soar today.
Telecommunications gained by 2.45 pc, Bankex by 2.68 pc and Financial services by 2.07 pc.
The Mid cap gained 0.56 pc and Small cap by 0.52 pc.
The gainers were Eternal by 4.48 pc to Rs 232, ICICI Bank by 3.63 pc to Rs 1406, Sun Pharma by 3.50 pc to Rs 1751.95 and Bharti Airtel by 3.20 pc to Rs 1883.
The losers were Tech Mahindra by 0.39 pc to Rs 1304 and Maruti Suzuki by 0.04 pc to Rs 11,660.
US and European market were down however, Asian Market was up as Strait Times was up by 1.56 pc, Hang Seng by 1.58 pc and Set Composite by 0.21 pc.
