Mumbai, May 20 (UNI) Erasing gains, the BSE Sensex dropped 554 pts at 81,504.20 till noon, following selling in Auto, Telecommunications and Power stocks despite a positive Asian Market.
The Nifty too slipped 156 pts at 24,788.60.
The equity market remained volatile on Tuesday, as the Sensex opened in green at 82,116.17, rising 57 pts. It surged 191 pts at 82,250.42, the day's high.
Later, it tumbled down nearly 603 pts to 81,456.14, the day's low.
At the moment, it was trading at 81,504.20, down 504 pts.
The Nifty registered days high at 25,010.35 and low at 24,780.65 pts.
The Mid cap declined 0.81 pc and Small cap by 0.29 pc.
In 30 scrips, 5 advanced while 25 declined.
The losers were Eternal by 3.63 pc to Rs 229.35, Maruti Suzuki by 1.80 pc to Rs 12,754.15, Powergrid by 1.53 pc to Rs 299.45 and M& M by 1.45 pc to Rs 3081.30.
The gainers were Tata Steel by 0.98 pc to Rs 159.05, Infosys by 0.30 pc to Rs 1563.90 and IndusInd Bank by 0.16 pc to Rs 785.
