Mumbai, May 14 (UNI) The BSE Sensex on Wednesday improved by 130 pts to open at 81,278.49 on the strength of Metal, Energy and Telecommunications stocks.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 35 pts at 24,613.80 pts.
Tumbling down over 1200 pts on Tuesday, the Sensex opened in green, gaining 130 pts at 81,278.49 pts.
Fresh buying in energy, Telecommunications and Metal stocks pushed the market into recovery mode.
The Sensex registered intraday highs and lows at 81,429.63 and 81,247.65 pts, respectively.
The Nifty registered a day's high at 24,671.25 and a low at 24,581.75 pts.
The mid cap gained 0.31 pc and the small cap by 0.30 pc.
In 30 scrips, 17 advanced while 13 declined.
The gainers were Tata Steel by 3.01 pc to Rs 154, Bharti Airtel by 2.31 pc to Rs 1863.10, Tech Mahindra by 0.94 pc to Rs 1587.30 and Infosys by 0.87 pc to Rs 1582.70.
The losers were Tata Motors by 2.62 pc to Rs 639.35, Asian paints by 1.14 pc to Rs 2298.60, Nestle India Ltd by 0.45 pc to Rs 2359.30 and IndusInd Bank by 0.43 pc to Rs 767.
US and European markets were up while a mixed trend was seen in Asian Market.
