Telangana's Singareni Seeks Odisha Support for Proposed Thermal Power Plant, Naini Mine Infra

Hyderabad, Oct 27 (UNI) Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has sought Odisha government's support for land acquisition and infrastructure development for its proposed thermal power plant near the Naini coal mine, rehabilitation of displaced families and coal transportation facilities in Angul district (Odisha).
SCCL Chairman and Managing Director Buddhaprakash Jyoti met Angul District Collector Mohammad Abdaal Akhtar on Tuesday and discussed the land and other requirements for the proposed projects.
The Collector responded positively and assured necessary cooperation, the state-owned mining company said in a release.
The CMD sought suitable land for a rehabilitation and resettlement colony for 40 families displaced by the Naini coal mine and requested an early meeting of the Rehabilitation and Periphery Advisory Committee (RPDAC) to decide on the rehabilitation package and related land acquisition issues.
Singareni has identified land in Tukuda and Jarapada villages for the proposed thermal power plant and sought the district administration's assistance in acquiring it.
The company has already deposited Rs 35 crore towards a proposed bypass road connecting Chandipara and Jarapada villages to facilitate coal transportation from the Naini block to the nearby Jarapada railway junction.
The road could also serve other coal-producing industries, the company said.
The CMD also sought land for a Singareni office and staff colony in Odisha and requested support for constructing the Majhika bypass road to transport coal without inconveniencing local residents.
The company has offered to fund the land acquisition required for the road.
Earlier, the SCCL CMD and senior officials visited Jindal's coal gasification plant in Angul district and studied the process of producing gas from domestic coal and its use in steel manufacturing.
The team also discussed the feasibility of using coal from Singareni's closed underground mines for gasification and the incentives offered by the Central government.
Coal from Singareni's Naini mine is also supplied to the Jindal plant.
SCCL Directors Gowtam Potru and L.V. Suryanarayana, Executive Director (Coal Movement) B. Venkanna, General Manager (Coordination) T. Srinivas and other officials participated in the discussions and visit.
