Rupee slides by 53 paise against USD

Mumbai, June 13 (UNI) The rupee on Friday fell by 53 paise at 86.13, a two-month low in opening session after Israel hit several sites in Iran, raising fears of a full-blown war with Tehran threatening “bitter” retaliation, traders said.

The currency opened 55 paise down at 86.15 against the dollar. It closed the previous session at 85.60.

The partially convertible rupee recorded intra-day high and low at 86.02 nd 86.20 respectively, dealers added.
