Bengaluru, June 3 (UNI) Former India captain and legendary leg-spinner Anil Kumble on Tuesday struck a tone of cautious optimism ahead of the much-anticipated IPL finals between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab, saying the better-performing side on the day would take the honours.
Kumble, who has had professional stints with both franchises, welcomed the prospect of a new winner but avoided picking sides. "Yeah, yeah, I've been involved in both the teams, RCB and Punjab. It's good that there'll be a new winner. Yeah, hopefully, I'm rooting for - hopefully both the teams will play. It'll be a really good game," he told reporters here.
When asked whether RCB would choose to bat or bowl first, the veteran sidestepped the question with measured words, saying, "I can't say all that. It depends — whoever plays better will certainly win the game."
