BJD youth, student wings intensify protest over textbook errors, demand Odisha education minister’s resignation

Bhubaneswar, Sep 22 (UNI) The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) youth and student wings on Tuesday intensified their agitation over alleged large-scale errors in school textbooks, staging a demonstration at Lower PMG here and demanding the resignation of School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond.
Led by Biju Yuva Janata Dal state president Chinmay Sahu and Biju Chhatra Janata Dal state president Ipsita Sahu, the protesters staged the demonstration despite heavy rain and launched a round-the-clock dharna at the protest site.
The BJD alleged that textbooks published under the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 for Classes I to VIII contained more than 1,678 errors and claimed that the state government had failed to withdraw or rectify the books despite being aware of the shortcomings.
