Union Minister demands Home Ministry's intervention in alleged terror threat against Indian Army para commando

Kolkata, Apr 30 (UNI) Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar on Wednesday sought the intervention of Union Home ministry against an alleged threatening handwritten poster, which was found outside the West Bengal residence of an Indian Army para commando currently deployed in Jammu and Kashmir with a note "Gourav er mundu chai" (Want Gourav's head) and "Pakistan Zindabad".
"(This) a horrifying and alarming piece of news with serious national security implications is emerging
from Dhaniakhali in Hooghly district," Majumdar wrote on his X handle posting a picture of handwritten threat message for the Indian Army personnel.
He said unknown radical elements have pasted the terrifying threat poster outside the house of Para
Commando Gourav Mukherjee, who is currently serving in the Indian Army’s elite Special Forces unit in Kashmir.
The poster, written in Bengali, contains Islamist slogans such as “Pakistan Zindabad” along with chilling threats — “We want Gourav’s head” and “If you save Hindus, your entire family will be destroyed.”
Majumdar continued to say, "According to the soldier’s family, this act of terror was carried out under the cover of darkness — a clear and calculated attempt to intimidate and terrorize the family of a soldier on Indian soil.
"This is not merely a personal threat to a patriotic soldier’s family — it is a direct attack on India’s internal security and sovereignty," Majumdar, who is also BJP's state unit president alleged.
"It is stark evidence of the complete breakdown of law and order in West Bengal and shows how, under the blessing of a shamelessly appeasement-driven political machinery, anti-national radical Islamist forces have grown increasingly emboldened," the Union Minister of State for Education and Northeastern Development said.
"They now believe they can threaten Indian soldiers and openly spread jihadist propaganda — without any fear of consequences!," he continued and demanded immediate intervention of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
"Enough is enough. This is no longer a mere local law and order issue — this is a national emergency," Majumdar warned. He also appealed to the Central government to act swiftly and decisively to crush these terror sympathizers.
The note was found on Saturday night outside the home of Army jawan Gourav Mukherjee in Dhaniakhali village of Hooghly district. The note also threatened the family of the Jawan warning of consequences for "saving Hindus" and claimed to "turn Bengal into Bangladesh".
The West Bengal Police have registered an FIR and launched an investigation into the matter.
