Tripura Minister Animesh Debbarma from BJP’s alliance partner faces Go Back slogan from women

Agartala, Oct 16 (UNI) The BJP-led government in Tripura faced a serious embarrassment after Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma of TIPRA Motha, an ally of the ruling alliance, confronted protests and “Go Back” chants from a group of women at Bachaibari in Asharambari in Khowai district on Thursday.
The incident drew attention to reported tensions within the ruling BJP–TIPRA Motha alliance. The women reportedly waved black flags and protested Debbarma’s alleged failure to campaign for Motha candidates in the recent Village Committee elections held under Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC).
According to police, following the demonstration, the minister could not proceed to Khowai for a programme addressed by Chief Minister Manik Saha. Failing to attend physically, Debbarma later joined the event virtually.
