Odisha woos West Bengal aluminium firms for investment in Angul

Bhubaneswar, Sep 28 (UNI) Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy on Monday urged West Bengal-based aluminium manufacturers to invest in Odisha’s Angul Aluminium Park, describing the state as a strategic hub for downstream and value-added aluminium production.
Addressing an investor roadshow organised by NALCO and ASSOCHAM here, Reddy said Odisha's dominance in bauxite and aluminium production, coupled with its industrial ecosystem, makes it well placed to attract downstream investments.
He said the National Aluminium Vision envisages a sixfold increase in aluminium production by 2047 and noted that Odisha accounts for around 60-70 per cent of India's aluminium output and more than 70 per cent of its bauxite production.
Reddy described Odisha as a "natural partner" for aluminium downstream manufacturing and called upon industries in West Bengal to leverage the state's resource and industrial strengths.
Union Mines Secretary Keshav Chandra said a major expansion of NALCO's operations in Odisha was under consideration, which would increase material availability and support further downstream investment.
The Angul Aluminium Park, a joint venture between NALCO and IDCO, offers proximity to NALCO's smelter, developed industrial infrastructure and a dedicated molten-metal transportation corridor.
The park is positioned for investments in aluminium extrusions, rolled products, packaging and battery foils, conductors and cables, castings, automotive components and recycling.
Officials highlighted Odisha's industrial land, power and water infrastructure, skilled workforce, port connectivity and incentives under the state's industrial policy.
Industrial Promotion and Investment Corporation of Odisha Limited (IPICOL) and the Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) participated in the roadshow and outlined support for investors from land identification and approvals to incentives and project implementation.
