Operation launched after killing of Kuki militants in Manipur

Imphal, July 1 (UNI) The Manipur Police and security forces have launched an operation to arrest the culprits involved in the killing of four people, including three Kuki militants, yesterday.

Police today said following a firing incident in K Mongjang village in Churachandpur district, security forces rushed to the spot and recovered three male bodies inside a bullet-ridden car. Another corpse of a female was found lying near the spot. The bodies of the deceased have been sent to the Churachandpur hospital.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the car was ambushed leading to the death of those inside the vehicle. An FIR has been registered at Churachandpur police station for further investigation. Security measures have been tightened to prevent escalation of violence.

Security forces foresee the possibility of factional clashes in Churachandpur among Kuki militant groups.

The three killed in the incident were reportedly responsible for the death of militants belonging to a different faction.
