Honeymoon murder case: SIT recovers pistol, Rs. 50,000 cash

Shillong, June 25 (UNI) The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Meghalaya Police today recovered a pistol and Rs. 50,000 in cash that was left by Sonam Raghuvanshi and other co-accused in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case.

A police official said one of the accused in the murder case, Silom James led the SIT to the place where the country made pistol with two magazines, two .32 ammunition and the cash were discarded or kept hidden.
James, a property dealer, led the team to a stream where the pistol was thrown, which was recovered this afternoon and the cash was found from his I10 car (MP09WG 2352) which he which he took out from the laptop bag of Raj, Vivek Syiem, the district police chief of East Khasi Hills, said.

However, James claimed that the bag in which jewellery and a laptop was kept has been burnt. Police have already sent the charred bag for forensic analysis.

James now claimed that the laptop was thrown by the road-side. Police are yet to recover the laptop.

James is a property dealer and lessee of the building at Heera Bagh Colony, Indore, where Sonam Raghuvanshi, widow of Raja Raghuvanshi, and other accused had taken refuge after allegedly murdering Raja at Wei Sawdong falls parking lot in Sohra, Meghalaya on May 23.

The SIT arrested James from Bhonrasa toll gate, Dewas district, MP, while trying to flee to Bhopal. Balla Ahirwar, the security guard of the building also fled to his native village and was nabbed from Ashok Nagar district in Madhya Pradesh.

Lokendra Singh Tomar, the owner of the building where the prime murder-accused Sonam was hiding after the heinous crime, was also apprehended by Gwalior police in connection with the murder case.

All three accused persons have been arrested for destruction of evidence and would be brought here tomorrow.

Last week, a local court here sent Sonam and her alleged lover Raj Singh Kushwaha along with three other murder accused Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan and Anand Kurmi to judicial custody. UNI RRK SSP
