Mizo voluntary anti-drug squad seizes four kg of heroin, two arrested

Aizawl, April 24 (UNI) In a major anti-narcotics operation, the Central Anti-Drugs Squad (CADS) of the Young Mizo Association (YMA) seized 4.821 kg of heroin worth approximately Rs 1.12 crore and arrested two persons on Thursday at Saitual town in eastern Mizoram.
The heroin was recovered from two vehicles intercepted by the YMA's anti-drug team around 3 am along the Aizawl-Champhai road. Saitual, a key town about 80 km east of the state capital Aizawl, which lies on the route that connects Champhai district with Zokhawthar, an Indian border town adjacent to Myanmar.
The arrested individuals were identified as Thangsangpuia (28), a resident of Farkawn village, currently living in Ramhlun North, Aizawl, and Malsawmdawnga (29), also from Farkawn, but presently staying at Khawmawi—a small village just across the Indo-Myanmar border bridge from Zokhawthar. The two were found transporting heroin concealed inside a Grand i10 (Regd. No. MZ01/J-8898) and an i10 (Regd. No. MZ01/H-6514), respectively.
