Nitish inaugurates development projects at Sardar Patel Memorial college in Nalanda

Biharsharif, Oct 28 (UNI) Former Bihar Chief Minister and Janata Dal (United) national president Nitish Kumar Wednesday inaugurated several development projects at Sardar Patel Memorial College in Udantpuri, Biharsharif, in Nalanda district.
At the ceremony organised on the occasion, Kumar first paid floral tributes to the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and subsequently unveiled the statue of Prof Rajendra Prasad, the college’s founding principal.
He also inaugurated a bridge and road construction projects funded through the Nalanda MP’s local area development fund, newly constructed volleyball and badminton courts, and the renovated science block. He also planted saplings, conveying a message of environmental conservation.
Addressing the gathering, Kumar said the state government had consistently worked over the past two decades to ensure that students from Bihar could access quality education within the state rather than having to go elsewhere. “For this, the government has undertaken several initiatives, ranging from developing educational infrastructure and recruiting teachers to introducing scholarship and incentive schemes and promoting skill development,” he said.
Emphasising Nalanda’s historic contribution to education, Kumar said the region had once imparted knowledge to the entire world and that efforts must be made to strengthen this legacy.
He expressed confidence that the institution established in memory of Sardar Patel would achieve several milestones in the coming years while upholding his ideals and vision.
Kumar said the younger generation must understand that the more educated a society and a state become, the greater their prospects for development. “What children sow during their student years is what they reap throughout their lives. Therefore, they must work with dedication and sincerity,” he said.
He added that families, the government, and society as a whole should extend all possible assistance and encouragement to students to help them achieve their goals.
