Tripura soon to start liver and bone marrow transplantation

Agartala, July 2 (UNI) Tripura government has been discussing with the nationally acclaimed non-profit charitable organisation – Mohan Foundation – beginning liver and bone marrow transplants in the state, said Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha here today.
He said Agartala Govt Medical College has successfully transplanted a third kidney and the patients are leading a normal life and mentioned, “We have taken all initiatives to ensure quality super-speciality health service and organ transplantation service in the state. So that people do not need to go outside.”
He stated, “We have the best doctors and facilities, but we are bridging the gaps and building confidence. My government has taken the initiative to bring back Tripura-origin doctors working outside with respect. We are committed to the overall improvement of the quality of health services and are working with the aim of establishing a health hub.”
“Nine super-speciality services have been started at a cost of about Rs 250 crore. Work is being carried out at Agartala Government Dental College with an allocation of about Rs 202 crore under the PM-DevINE Project. Financial resources have been made available in this year's budget to open a 100-bed state-of-the-art eye hospital,” he underlined.
The Chief Minister further said that the government is working with special emphasis to make Tripura drug-free. A modern drug de-addiction centre is being set up in Bishramganj with an allocation of about Rs 122 crore from the DoNER Ministry.
In addition, initiatives have been taken to set up a drug de-addiction centre in each district for Rs 20 crore.
