Bengal's MBBS kitty swells by 975 seats, gross crosses 7200

Durgapur, Sep 22 (UNI) In a major boost to medical education in the state, Bengal has recorded the highest increase in government MBBS seats in the country for the 2026-27 academic session and the enhancement in recent times was 975 seats, the senior Health officials said.
The state's Principal Secretary, Health Narayan Swarup Nigam, during the inauguration of a private medical college here said, "During the last few months, Bengal has recorded addition of 975 fresh MBBS seats, which helped number of total seats to swell up to 7200, which seems to be a big leap
in our run to secure the goal of 10,000 seats in next two years."
