Odisha draws big-ticket investments in clean energy at Bharat Renewable Energy Summit-2026

Bhubaneswar, Nov 3 (UNI) Odisha has received investment proposals worth Rs 1.17 lakh crore for an additional 11,742 MW of clean-energy capacity, with 18 companies signing MoUs at the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit 2026 in New Delhi.

The proposed investments cover pumped storage, solar, wind, hybrid renewable energy, battery storage, green hydrogen, green data centres and other emerging technologies, marking a significant push to the State’s clean-energy ambitions.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi described the investment interest as a watershed moment in Odisha’s transition to clean energy, saying the State was poised to contribute significantly to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making India self-reliant in the sector.
The MoUs were exchanged in the presence of Majhi and Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo after they inaugurated the Odisha Pavilion at Bharat Mandapam.
GRIDCO Managing Director Satya Priya Rath signed the agreements with industry partners.
The event also featured an Odisha State Plenary on investment opportunities in the renewable energy sector, attended by over 900 delegates.
Addressing the plenary, Majhi outlined Odisha’s ambition to become a leading clean-energy destination and one of India’s top five power-exporting States. The State aims to source 74 per cent of its installed power capacity from non-fossil fuel sources by 2047 and meet at least 33 per cent of industrial electricity consumption through green power at competitive tariffs.
Assuring investors of policy stability and time-bound clearances through the single-window system, the Chief Minister said the Government was prioritising transmission infrastructure ahead of new generation capacity.
He cited the allocation of Rs 15,948 crore under the Mukhyamantri Shakti Bikash Yojana for modernising and expanding the power transmission network.
Odisha’s industrial base and strategic ports at Paradip, Dhamra and Gopalpur, he said, offered major opportunities for clean-energy production and exports.
Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi highlighted Odisha’s natural resources, industrial strength and port infrastructure as key advantages for attracting investments
in renewable energy, storage, floating solar, wind power, green hydrogen and green ammonia.
He stressed the need for coordinated efforts by the Centre, State and industry to accelerate the
clean-energy transition.
