TPWODL facilitates over 73,000 rooftop solar installations across western Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Oct 22 (UNI) Rooftop solar adoption is gaining momentum across Western Odisha, with TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited (TPWODL) facilitating more than 73,000 installations, reflecting growing consumer interest in clean energy and its potential financial benefits.
The benefits of rooftop solar were evident in September 2026, when thousands of consumers across Western Odisha recorded zero-unit electricity bills under the Utility-Led Aggregation (ULA) and CAPEX models, highlighting the potential of solar energy to reduce household electricity expenses.
As part of its efforts to promote clean energy and improve consumer services, TPWODL recently concluded its month-long participation in the Seva Setu Abhiyan, conducted from September 17 to October 17 across Western Odisha. The initiative brought rooftop solar assistance and essential utility services closer to consumers in both urban and rural areas.
During the campaign, TPWODL organised 44 camps across seven districts, reaching more than 2,000 consumers and facilitating the resolution of over 300 consumer grievances. The initiative also gave a boost to rooftop solar adoption, with around 1,400 applications registered and 200 installations commissioned during the campaign.
The campaign covered Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Debagarh, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Balangir and Nuapada districts. Dedicated TPWODL teams assisted consumers with rooftop solar registrations under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSGMBY) and the Utility-Led Aggregation (ULA) model.
A major highlight of the initiative was a mega Seva Setu camp at Rengali in Sambalpur district, which witnessed a large turnout. The camp was attended by Sambalpur MP and former union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
At the camps, TPWODL teams provided on-the-spot assistance with rooftop solar registrations, explained the applicable subsidy benefits and addressed consumer queries. These efforts helped residents better understand the registration process, available support and the potential advantages of switching to solar energy.
TPWODL said the Seva Setu Abhiyan was implemented at the block level across urban and rural areas as a single-window service initiative. The programme aimed to bring essential administrative and utility services closer to citizens, offering communities an accessible platform to resolve operational issues and explore clean energy solutions without having to visit utility offices.
Through its continued efforts to facilitate rooftop solar adoption and strengthen consumer engagement, TPWODL is supporting the wider transition towards clean energy across Western Odisha.
