CM Majhi calls for upholding Sardar Patel’s ideals to build a prosperous, developed Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Oct 31 (UNI) Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday called upon the people of Odisha to draw inspiration from the ideals of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and work together towards building a prosperous, peaceful and developed state.
Addressing the National Unity Day celebrations marking the birth anniversary of India's first Deputy Prime Minister, popularly known as the Iron Man of India, Majhi highlighted Patel's extraordinary political vision, unwavering determination and pragmatic leadership, which played a historic role in integrating more than 560 princely states into a united India.
The Chief Minister said Patel's ideals of national unity, integrity and patriotism continued to hold immense relevance and would remain a guiding force in Odisha's journey towards peace, security and development.
Describing the occasion as more than a celebration of Patel's legacy, Majhi said it was also a reminder of everyone's collective responsibility to uphold the unity, sovereignty and integrity of the nation.
Highlighting Odisha's achievements in strengthening internal security, Majhi said the state had made significant progress in its fight against Naxalism, creating a peaceful and secure environment conducive to industrialisation and economic growth.
He credited the sustained efforts and professional commitment of Odisha Police, along with the decisive measures taken by the state government, for the significant success in combating Naxal and Maoist violence.
Recalling the transformation of previously affected areas, the Chief Minister said regions once dominated by fear and insecurity, where people hesitated to venture out even during daylight hours, were now witnessing a remarkable change.
Majhi attributed Odisha's achievement in becoming Naxal-free to the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Turning to the state's economic prospects, the Chief Minister said Odisha had entered a new phase of industrialisation over the past two years, with investors and industrialists from across India and abroad showing growing interest in the state.
He expressed confidence that improved security, a conducive investment climate and the state's development initiatives would help accelerate Odisha's economic growth.
On the occasion, Majhi also recalled the contributions of eminent Odia personalities, particularly Dr Harekrushna Mahtab, to India's freedom struggle and the integration of the princely states of Odisha.
He said their contributions remained an important part of the state's history and continued to inspire future generations.
