Jharkhand plans Ranchi IT Park, targets 75,000 jobs by 2029

Ranchi, Sep 28 (UNI) Jharkhand plans to launch an IT Park in Ranchi by 2029, with a target of creating 75,000 employment opportunities in phases, the Chief Minister’s Office said on Monday.
The proposal was discussed during a meeting between Chief Minister Hemant Soren and RMZ Infrastructure President Deepak Chhabria at the Chief Minister’s residential office here.
The first phase of the proposed IT Park is expected to create around 20,000 employment opportunities, with the capacity targeted to rise to about 75,000 over the following three years, the CMO said.
The government is also considering around 100 acres of land near IIM Ranchi, the new Assembly complex and the High Court complex as a potential site for the project.
Soren and Chhabria discussed possibilities for developing an advanced IT Park in Jharkhand and establishing Global Capability Centres (GCCs), besides promoting investment in information technology, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, manufacturing, nuclear energy and digital infrastructure.
Soren said the government was working to develop a modern IT and technology ecosystem in Jharkhand and attract investment while creating employment and high-skill opportunities for local youth.
He said Ranchi could be developed as a centre for IT, innovation and emerging technologies by working with industry.
The proposed IT Park is envisaged to have modern office and digital infrastructure and facilities for global technology companies and institutions, the CMO said.
The government is also considering sending a delegation from the Information Technology and e-Governance Department to Bengaluru in October to study IT parks, technology ecosystems and the GCC model there.
The delegation would examine IT infrastructure, investment arrangements and facilities available to industries and use the findings to prepare an action plan for developing the proposed IT Park and related technology ecosystem in Jharkhand, the CMO said.
RMZ Infrastructure expressed interest in exploring opportunities in Jharkhand for an advanced IT Park, digital infrastructure and emerging technology sectors, it said.
Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar, Information Technology and e-Governance Department Secretary Pooja Singhal and Jharkhand Space Applications Centre Director Madhavi Mishra were present at the meeting.
