328 arms recovered in big operations in five districts of Manipur

Imphal, June 14 (UNI) Manipur Police and security forces have recovered 328 arms in a major operation launched in five districts of Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Bishnupur and Kakching, police said on Saturday, adding the operations were mostly carried out on Thursday and Friday.
Simultaneous search operations were launched at different locations on the outskirts of five districts by joint teams of the state police, CAPFs and Army.
The recovered arms included SLR and INSAS rifles, other types of guns, five carbine guns, five MP5 guns, two LMGs and a dozen AK series rifles.
Altogether 2,186 rounds of ammunition were recovered.
Police said these intelligence-based operations mark a major achievement for the forces in their continued effort to restore normalcy in the state.
"Senior police officers are in close coordination with all security stakeholders to ensure that such operations continue in a sustained and focused manner to restore normalcy, maintain public order, and ensure the safety and security of citizens and their properties," said a statement issued by the Office of the Director General of Police.
