Meghalaya salutes U Tirot Sing Syiem on death anniversary

Shillong, July 17 (UNI) Meghalaya on Wednesday paid glowing tributes to the memory of its legendary patriot U Tirot Sing Syiem on his 189th death anniversary.
The central function was held at the U Tirot Sing Memorial at Nongkhlaw, 50 km from here which was the erstwhile capital of Nongkhlaw, of which U Tirot Sing was the Syiem (chieftain), with State Arts and Culture Minister Paul Lyngdoh inaugurated the Tirot Sing Syiem Museum and Cultural Centre.
The museum and cultural centre, implemented by the Department of Arts and Culture of the State Government, was constructed at a cost of Rs. 2.5 crore, funded by the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
