Odisha ups compassionate assistance in wildlife attacks

Bhubaneswar, June 9 (UNI) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday increased the compassionate assistance from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 10 lakh in case of any death caused by wildlife attacks in the state.
Wildlife attacks are more common in villages located near forests. Keeping this in mind, the Chief Minister has raised the assistance amount to support affected families.
As per the decision, along with the increased compensation, if a house is damaged, financial assistance equivalent to the house’s value will be provided under the Antyodaya Griha Yojana.
If the kitchen, granary, or goat shed is damaged, compassionate assistance of Rs 3,000 will be provided.
Similarly, if a concrete wall or compound wall is damaged, assistance of Rs 5,000 per meter, up to a maximum of Rs 25,000, will be given, according to a release issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
