Bihar CM greets people on RSS foundation day, highlights its role in nation-building

Patna, Oct 20 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary on Tuesday extended his heartfelt greetings and best wishes to the people of the country on the occasion of the foundation day of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), saying the organisation had played an unparalleled role in promoting a spirit of service and values in society through its ideals of national service, discipline, dedication and patriotism.
In his message, Chaudhary said the Sangh's unwavering commitment to the nation, its tradition of social harmony and its legacy of service should continue to flourish, further strengthening the resolve towards nation-building.
He said the RSS was founded by Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar in Nagpur on September 27, 1925, on the occasion of Vijayadashami. The organisation describes itself as a cultural body and conducts activities through its shakhas, where volunteers are encouraged to participate in physical training, discipline, social service, and activities aimed at fostering patriotism.
Several prominent political leaders have been associated with the RSS and subsequently played significant roles in Indian politics. They include former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former union Minister Murli Manohar Joshi, and union Home Minister Amit Shah, Choudhary stated.
The RSS played a role in Modi's early public life, while Vajpayee and Advani made significant contributions to the development of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and, subsequently, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The foundation day of the RSS is marked by shakha activities, route marches and other programmes at various locations across the country.
