Odisha Congress accuses BJP government of silence over Andhra Pradesh move to conduct Panchayat poll in Kotia

Bhubaneswar, Oct 17 (UNI) The Odisha Congress on Saturday accused the BJP-led state government of failing to safeguard Odisha’s territorial interests in the disputed Kotia region, questioning Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s silence over Andhra Pradesh’s reported move to conduct panchayat elections in the area.
Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) media department chairman Arabinda Das alleged that Andhra Pradesh had announced panchayat elections on October 14 and officials from its Parvathipuram Manyam district had entered Kotia to initiate election-related activities, but the Odisha government had failed to respond adequately.
Questioning the state government’s reluctance to confront Andhra Pradesh, Das alleged that the BJP’s “double-engine government” had failed to protect Odisha’s land and people despite coming to power on the promise of upholding “Odia Asmita” (Odia identity and pride).
