Odisha minister’s piggyback ride on PSO triggers political row

Bhubaneswar, Nov 3 (UNI) The Opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Tuesday slammed Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik for riding piggyback on his personal security officer (PSO) during a visit to Kandhamal district, describing the incident as disturbing and reflective of the government’s “inhuman mindset”.
In a press statement, BJD media coordinator Dr Lenin Mohanty said administrative mismanagement and lack of coordination had repeatedly embarrassed the state government. The incident, he said, exposed the extent to which those in positions of power could stoop.
Mohanty alleged that people in Ganjam and Gajapati districts continued to suffer from administrative apathy in the aftermath of Cyclone Arnab, while the government had failed to provide adequate relief to affected families.
He also cited instances of ministers and legislators facing public anger during visits to different parts of the state, saying these reflected growing public discontent.
Describing the incident as serious, Mohanty urged the government to review its administrative functioning, uphold the dignity of security personnel and correct its approach before public resentment escalated further.
