Over 1600 stranded tourists safely evacuated from Lachung to Gangtok : HHTDN

Gangtok, Jun 2 (UNI) Over 1600 tourists, who had been stranded at Lachung, one of the last villages in north Sikkim, since Thursday at about 9000 ft, were safely evacuated to Gangtok on Monday.
The Himalayan Hospitality and Tourism Development Network' (HHTDN) thanked the Indian Army, Sikkim Police, ITBP, BRO, and other stakeholders for the evacuation of tourists.
" All stranded tourists have been safely evacuated from Lachung. They are now on their way to Gangtok under proper coordination and guidance." We thank all teams and authorities involved for their swift and dedicated response," a media release from HHTDN said.
